Renewable Energy Technologies

The global calling for substantive actions to preserve and improve the environment, to increase quality of life, and to participate in world development of advanced technologies have lead society to take a new look on the problem of energy production. Due to state-of-the-art technologies, renewable energy sources may become ecological alternatives to fossil fuels.

Realizing the importance of an objective assessment of the economical and technological potentials of bioenergetics in the Latgale region, company “Arhis,” in cooperation with one of the leading Latvian higher educational establishment - the Transport and Telecommunication Institute - has become an initiator of the Regional Park of Bioenergy Technologies.

The main objectives of the organization are:

1. To organize research tailored to reveal areas for optimal allocation of biogas plants in the region, based on an analysis of existing infrastructure, raw material sources, potential energy consumers, and necessity to reduce the cost of heat used by the local population and enterprises.
2. To select economically favorable and proven cogeneration technologies and estimate plant capacity. Investigate technological know-how aimed to allocate the locations of plants, taking into consideration regional particularities (climatic, soil, legislative, etc.)
3. To develop business-concepts and economic models of bioenergy plants in order to attract potential investors.
4. To develop technological and engineering- beneficial designs of cogeneration stations specific to each particular location.
5. To create opportunities to integrate agricultural and forestry producers into a technological chain of energy production, in order to maximize utilization of all available regional resources.
6. To organize training and improve specialist qualification in the realm of bioenergy technologies.
7. To assist in the positioning of Biotechnology Park members on energy resource market, in order to minimize costs (raw materials procurement and production), as well as to generate additional benefits from coordinated activities (sales of energy resources, reduction of emissions, etc.)
8. To form streamlined informational, judicial and engineering services.
9. To create centralized dispatch and control in order to provide long distance supervision of plant operations.
10. To expand on recommendations on the reduction of emissions by companies which launch satellites and recycle produced heat.
